When asked what his most enjoyable moment of the year at scouts was, here’s what Ben had to say…
My favourite memory of this year’s Scouts was the Chip Shop Survey. We spent the evening going to different chip shops sampling their chips and rating the service, the friendliness of staff and the chips! Our favourite were the FryDays chips.’
On Monday the cubs enjoyed an end of year outing to the local bowling alley in Watford. Great fun was had by all. This event marked the end of another year for the cubs at the 72nd, a year that has seen them taking part in many great activities. Over the course of the year they have cooked outdoors at Lees Wood, built bird boxes for their DIY badge, completed hedge surveys as part of their naturalist badge, attended a number of district events and played Laser Tag which was a definite favourite of the cubs. With the 100th anniversary of the Cub Scout movement coming in 2016, we expect next year to be even bigger and better for the 72nd Cubs.
On Saturday the scouts helped out at Tesco encouraging people to make donations towards the local food bank. The scouts greeted shoppers and distributed leaflets that advised how they could help by buying an extra item or two that would then be donated to the chairty. Later the donated food was sorted and delivered to the food bank. Our thanks goes to scout leader Mark and his wife, Wendy, who worked with the representatives from the food bank to ensure that everything ran smoothly. We are very proud of our scouts for assisting in this way, demonstrating one of the core philosophies of scouting – to help others.
